Volunteers needed
The Douglas County Public Library is looking for volunteers to work at the children's service desk during the summer. Detail-oriented adults with experience working with children are desired. Help is needed to sign up children for the summer reading program, give instructions, and issue prizes to readers.
Training provided on May 11 and flexible schedules accommodated. Contact Kathy Echavarria or Maria Pearson at the library.
Authors gathering
The Douglas County Public Library's gathering of authors is 2-4 p.m. June 27, at the library. Authors interested in attending the book signing and discussion event should contact the library by May 15.
Employment assistance
Free employment assistance, noon to 3 p.m. May 16, at the library. Michelle Garton of Nevada JobConnect covers resume preparation, cover letters, interviewing and online job searching. Bring resume information.

Book sale
Garden, sports and how-to books are on sale during regular hours, May 16-30, in the lobby of the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.
