Updates on former Douglas High standouts

Shawn Estes, P, Albuquerque Isotopes (Dodgers Triple-A): Estes carried the Isotopes through six innings allowing just one run Sunday afternoon against the Round Rock Express. He struck out three, walked two and retired 10 consecutive batters at one point. He took a no-decision in the 6-4 loss.


Jordan Hadlock, fr., C, Cal Poly: Red-shirting. Cal Poly took two of three games from San Francisco over the weekend.


Chris Honer, sr., P, Point Loma: Honer improved to 5-0 in the regular-season finale, striking out four and walking one in a 7-0 win over Cal Baptist. The Sealions won the GSAC regular season title and will host the postseason tournament this week.


Phil Mannelly, soph., IF, Feather River: Feather River swept a series from Butte over the weekend to run its win streak to 15 games and improve to 40-3 on the year. Mannelly is batting .383 with 32 RBIs, two triples and 15 doubles to go with 18 stolen bases.


Cory Eilers, soph., DH, Feather River: Eilers is batting .255 on the year with two doubles, a home run and eight RBIs.


Roman Davis, soph., C, Feather River: Davis is batting .385 with a double and eight RBIs.


Niko Saladis, soph., RF, Feather River: Saladis is leading the Golden Eagles in batting at .408 with 11 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 51 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. He has started all 43 games for the Golden Eagles this year. He leads the Golden Valley Conference in hits and is second in runs scored and RBIs and third in stolen bases.


Ryan Laing, soph., 1B, Pratt College: Pratt is 15-40 overall and 4-28 in conference play. The regular season is over.


Chris Balcom-Miller, soph., P/IF, West Valley College: Balcom-Miller is currently fifth in the Coast Golden Gate Conference with a 3.02 ERA. He has a 7-5 record with a conference-leading 106 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched.

Brittany Puzey, sr., OF, Nevada: The Wolf Pack clinched a share of the Western Athletic Conference title last week and will open the conference tournament today against New Mexico State. Puzey leads the team with a .377 batting average. She has 11 doubles, 12 home runs, two triples and 45 RBIs. She has also stolen 16 bases in 17 attempts.


Lauren Hoppe, fr., OF, College of Idaho: Red-shirting. The Coyotes (32-17) are currently ranked No. 23 in the NAIA and have clinched a spot in the NAIA World Series.

Ryan Bertucci, soph., Chico State: The Wildcats won the California Collegiate Athletic Association title for the sixth-straight year over the weekend. Bertucci took second at the meet with a leep of 6 feet, 8 inches.


Skylar Young, fr., Chico State: Young took 11th in the 800 with a time of 2:24.99 at the conference championships.
