Douglas County K-9 deputies ran through Gardnerville at about just before noon today as they participated in the 10th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Run
The run leads up to Thursday's Nevada Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial noon ceremony.
All Nevada peace officers, federal, state, county, and local, have been invited to participate in the run, held in conjunction with National Police Memorial Week May 10-16.
The run started April 30 in Las Vegas, and is divided into 104 segments, reflecting the 104 names on the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial.
The runners will carry a baton containing those names, plus Sgt. Richard L. Willson, Mineral County Sheriff's Office, whose name will be added to the Memorial. That baton will be presented to Sgt. Willson's family at the memorial service.
The runners followed Highway 208 into Douglas County and then ran north on Highway 395.
