The Morning R-C

Minden is going to be one happening place once the siren goes off tonight. On one end of Esmeralda Avenue, Gov. Jim Gibbons will be holding court while on the other, the Minden Town Board will be having their regular meeting. I know the governor wants to talk about the state budget, and my bet Minden town board member Bob Hadfield will have something to say about it, too. Both start at 6 p.m. The governor will be taking questions at the old Douglas County courthouse. Minden meets at the CVIC Hall.

The Douglas County Historical Society is trying to change the name of the Genoa Courthouse Museum to the Courthouse Museum Genoa. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I definitely am not going to alter our use in print until they're willing to pay for a new sign. They presently have two signs outside the old, old Douglas County Courthouse in Genoa that are having difficulty agreeing on how to spell courthouse.

We cleared the Almanac on Tuesday. The award-winning magazine will hit the streets on May 27. It's a bit lighter than last year's but not by as much as it dropped the year before. In it are 76 photos taken by our readers during last summer's Day in the Life. We'll be deciding on a new day in the coming weeks. Thanks to everyone for participating.

It will be breezy today. It's already warm, with 55 degrees in Minden this morning. The wind will be blowing 10-20 mph, with gusts of up to 35 mph. We'll see mostly sunny skies and a high of 70. High pressure will build during the latter part of the week, hitting 78 degrees by Saturday.
