Crafts, food, music and classic cars will be found at the ninth annual Big Mama's Show & Shine Classic Car Show, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lampe Park Pavilion in Gardnerville.
Last year's car show attracted 150 classic cars. Register cars from 1972 and older by calling the Douglas County Senior Center at 783-6455 or at the registration table at the park on Saturday.
Oldies music is provided by DJ Chuck Baldauskas. The Carson Valley Lion's Club will barbecue hot dogs and hamburgers.
Vendors include jewelry, Costco, reverse mortgage, crafts, Personal Emergency Response System, scented candles and the Kid's Fishing Derby. T-shirts will be for sale the day of the event.
Raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the day. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5 or 13 for $10 for prizes that include a ceiling fan, night out packages from Reno and Tahoe hotels, breakfast for four at Katie's Country Kitchen at the Carson Valley Inn, Starbucks gift basket and a round of golf for four at Dayton Golf Course. The 2009 Big Mama's sponsors include Golden Nugget Automotive, Bob's Performance Center, Carson Valley Lion's Club, Young at Heart Senior Citizen's Club, Minden Taxi, Edgewood Golf Course, Rowe & Hales LLP, American International Tooling, United Electrical Services, Pic-N-Save Auto Recyclers, Nevada Johns, Park Place AM/PM, Merrill Gardens of Gardnerville and Nu Systems, Inc.
Big Mama's is also supported by local businesses that donated raffle prizes.
Proceeds from Big Mama's Show & Shine benefit Douglas County's Meals on Wheels program, which delivers meals to homebound seniors in Douglas County. It is expected more than 29,000 meals will be served this year and more seniors sign up for the program each week.
