Staff Reports
Anyone who enjoys gardening is invited to a meeting about recreating the gardens at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The goal is to preserve surviving daffodils and other bulbs, peonies, roses, lilacs and trailing vines and supplement the grounds with appropriate plants to have the gardens look as they did when the Dangbergs cared for them. Historic photos and material from the park's collection help this project.
Participants will hear about the garden plans and have a chance to look around the grounds. Refreshments will be served.
Volunteers who would like to plant flowers and do other gardening should dress appropriately and bring work gloves. Those who can help a little and those who can help a lot are all welcome. Interested volunteers contact park interpreter Mark Jensen at dangbergranch@parks.nv.gov or 783-9417.
Tours of the Dangberg Home Ranch are 10 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with additional 2 p.m. tours on Saturday and Sunday. Tours combine discussion of Dangberg family history with displays of artifacts from the 19th century through the 1980s. Historic furniture, clothing, books, dishes, artwork, photographs, phonographs and other items give insight into the lives of four generations of Nevadans.
The tours are about an hour and a half. Tours are limited to 10 people. Larger groups can request special arrangements. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. Make required reservations at dangbergranch@parks.nv.gov or 783-9417.
