The Memorial Day weekend will provide us all with the chance to check out two really good sales.
VFW Post 3567 will hold their annual yard sale next to the Walker Mini Mall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend. There will be some really good items that have been donated, and this is the group's only fundraiser of the year to very actively support the Veterans Hospital and the Spouse House in Reno. If you have some items they can use, except for heavy furniture, call either (530) 495-2149 or (530) 495-2621 for them to pick them up.
On Saturday, May 23, at the Walker Mini Mall, the Antelope Valley Friends of the Library will have a huge book sale. If you are a reader, or know someone who is, be sure to go down and see all the books available for next to nothing prices. There will be books of all types, so plan to get there.
Special election
Tuesday, May 19, there will be a special election for California voters. There are six propositions on the ballot which can affect the state's budget and economic recovery, so it is important for all of us. We shouldn't complain if we don't vote.
Annual Memorial Day ceremony
As every year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3567 will hold their Memorial Day ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, at the Coleville Cemetery beginning 9 a.m. This will be attended by many of our community, as well as students from our schools. It is always impressive and reminds you of the sacrifices made in the past for us.
Mountain Warfare Training Challenge
This grueling race will be this Saturday starting 11 a.m., at the Mountain Warfare Training Center. If you would like to find out more about entering the race or watching the participants, check at http://y-events.com/mwtc/
