Douglas County students receive Anderson scholarships

Douglas High School's Tyler Hoelzen and Whittell High School's Justina Pritzker were among 10 students who received Joshua L. Anderson Memorial Foundation college scholarships.

The scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school baseball or softball players who achieve academic excellence and maintain a high level of community and school activities. Each award is a $2,500 scholarship.

The Joshua L. Anderson Memorial Foundation has awarded 179 scholarships to Northern Nevada athletes from 31 different high schools since its inception in 1993.

Josh Anderson was a 1991 graduate of Reno High School. He played baseball at Reno National Little League, Reno West Babe Ruth, Reno High School, Reno Knights American Legion and DeAnza College in Cupertino, California.
