The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating three burglaries May 15-18 at two churches and an elementary school.
Deputies were called to Gardnerville Elementary School and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints early May 15 after staff at both locations discovered break-ins.
Suspects in both incidents gained entry by breaking outside windows with rocks. Once inside, burglars at the church gained entry to locked offices by punching holes in the ceiling. Investigators believe the holes were made with a fire extinguisher.
Sgt. Mark Munoz said Tuesday investigators speculate the suspects may have been juveniles or young adults because the holes are small.
He said a custodian arrived at Gardnerville Elementary School and heard the alarm. Whoever broke into the school opened the roll-up door to the cafeteria.
Munoz said at both locations it appeared nothing had been taken.
A burglary at the Full Gospel Fellowship Church on Mitch Drive was reported Monday. The only thing missing appeared to be petty cash, Munoz said.
Munoz said investigators speculate the three incidents are related because of the method of entry.
Secret Witness is offering a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest and, or conviction of the suspects.
