Volunteers needed for fishing derby

Volunteers are needed for the 20th annual Kid's' Fishing Derby on June 6 and 7 at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Help is needed in all areas. Training sessions begin Saturday.

River training at 9 a.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. May 30 and 7 p.m. June 3 at Lampe Park next to Willow Creek. Volunteers must attend at least one river help training class.

General volunteer meetings at 9 a.m. May 30 and 6 p.m. June 3 at Lampe Park.

If you are unable to attend at least one of the mandatory meetings, contact Trent Dowell at kfdvolunteers@aol.com or 267-2724.

Today is the last day to get fishing derby tickets at the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department office across from Lampe Park in Gardnerville.

Register from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the Lampe Park pavilion or May 25-30 at the Chamber of Commerce.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at Lampe Park during the river training or volunteer meetings, for $1 or six for $5. Grand prizes include a 150 cc quad with helmet and

gloves and pontoon boat.
