Highway 395 open with controls

Highway 395 is open with controls as firefighters battle a 10-acre blaze in Spring Valley, a half-mile west of the highway and five miles north of Holbrook Junction.

Firefighters have a line around 40 percent of the fire, but they are still fighting active flames along the front. While line construction by three handcrews is going well, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch, winds carry the possibility of spotting.

Three handcrews continue to work on the fire, along with 13 engines and helicopter. As temperatures cool and the winds die back, the fire should stop spreading.
