The Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce's first Business Bootcamp is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Friday at the new Holiday Inn Express in Minden.
Organized by the chamber and SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, the event will offer attendees an update on resource partners of the chamber, including SCORE, the Nevada Small Business Development Center and others.
The majority of the morning will focus on finance, with two sessions, "being your own CFO," presented by SCORE's Dick Stumbo and a panel of local accounting pros, and "finding financing in 2009," featuring representatives from area banking institutions and the Small Business Administration.
The final topic, "the social web primer," will provide an overview of marketing channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and others with details on why they have become so important and how to get started.
A continental breakfast will be served beginning at 8 a.m. and the program will begin at 8:30.
There is no charge for Carson Valley Chamber members to attend this event, but room capacity is limited to 40, so reservations are required.
Reservations can be made by calling 782-8144 or by e-mail at admin@carsonvalleynv.org.
Non-chamber members will be accommodated strictly on a space-available basis.
