Today is the last day the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce is accepting registrations for the Kids' Fishing Derby to be held on June 6 and 7.

The Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville, located in the same building as the Chamber of Commerce, will accept registrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The address is 1477 Highway 395. They will also have volunteer sign up forms.

There will be a registration table at Lampe Park on Saturday from 9-11 a.m.

The first and the second sessions are now full; however five other sessions are still available, including the special needs session, to be held on June 6 at 2:30-4 p.m.

This is an opportunity to bring a special needs child out to the river to give them the gift of the outdoor life.

The next day for the river help training class will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The last river help training class will be on 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone planning on volunteering as river help, who is between the ages of 13-15, must attend at least one mandatory river help training class. There will be no exceptions.

The mandatory volunteer meetings (these are not to be confused with the river help training classes) are 9 a.m. Saturday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone unable to attend at least one of the mandatory volunteer meetings, you must contact Trent Dowell at kfdvolunteers@aol.com, or by telephone at 267-2724.
