It was announced today that the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Carson Valley Active 20/30 Club will co-sponsor the First Annual Carson Valley Days Golf Tournament on June 12 at the Carson Valley Golf Course.

The event had previously been announced as the Chamber's annual tournament, but representatives of the two organizations have agreed to work together to create an addition to the Carson Valley Days Festival.

"This was a natural", said Chamber Executive Director Bill Chernock, "with the date of our event falling at the beginning of Carson Valley Days. Dylan Zigenis of the 20/30 Club made the suggestion we work together and we think it's a great idea."

For the 20/30 Club, the Golf Tournament is an ideal way to add to the Carson Valley Days line-up.

"This will really kick off the event", Zigenis said, "we think that the golf leading into the weekend sets a great tone.

The tournament will feature a four-person scramble format at the Carson Valley Golf Course. Players start with an 8:30 a.m. Shotgun start with closest to the pin, longest drive and team prizes; receive the commemorative "First annual Carson Valley Days Golf Tournament" shirt and enjoy lunch provided by the Carson Valley Country Club. Raffle prizes will be handed out as well, with one prize being a "Ticket to Paradise", one round of golf at each of nine golf courses in the Carson Valley and Carson City area, courtesy of the Divine Nine marketing group.

Space is still available. The cost for individual players is $85 and $340 for a foursome. Players who don't have a full foursome will be paired up. Hole sponsorships are available for $100, or a package including a foursome and a hole sponsorship is $400. To register to play, find out about all of the sponsorship opportunities or provide a raffle prize, contact the Chamber at 782-8144 or e-mail
