Members of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad Commission are meeting in the town built for the original V&T today. Commissioners will gather at 3 p.m. in the Douglas County Administration Building, 1616 Eighth St. The agenda's mainly made up of reports today, but if it's not the first time they've met in Minden, it's a pretty rare visit.

Today we'll be following up on the fires in Topaz Ranch Estates today. I know firefighters started clearing the 7:05 a.m. Sunday Gray Hills fire by 10 a.m. If we get something new, we'll post it.

It will be sunny and warm today, with a high temperature of 73, according to the National Weather Service. Right now it looks like the highs will peak on Tuesday and then begin to drop Wednesday. There's a chance we'll see some weather on Saturday.

The Weather Service is still piecing together the precipitation reports for the month of October. R-C records show Minden got 1.68 inches in the first half of the month, way more than its average .58 inches for the month.
