The Douglas girls' soccer team clinched its first regional title since 2002 with a 2-1 overtime win over South Tahoe at Damonte Ranch Saturday afternoon.
Katie Dry was awarded a penalty kick with less than two minutes left in overtime after she was hauled down on a one-on-one breakaway inside the penalty box by Tahoe keeper Alexis Nunes-Fenley.
Nunes-Fenley was issued a red card on the play and Dry booted a high shoot past Tahoe's backup keeper to clinch the win for the Tigers.
Douglas gave up a goal just three minutes into the game on a breakaway from Shelby Spicer, but came back in the 14th minute with a goal from Kyra Barth on an assist from Dry.
More details from the game will be posted later on tonight.
