Donations needed for gift bags

The Young At Heart Senior Citizens Club, the Douglas County Senior Center and students from Gardnerville Elementary and Douglas High schools start preparing Christmas gift bags for the recipients of Meals-on-Wheels and Douglas County homebound seniors on Dec. 10 at the senior center.

Gift bags will be delivered with the meals Dec. 15-17. There are 98 Meals-on Wheels clients, 63 women and 35 men. Most of these Meals-on-Wheels recipients and homebound seniors live alone, and in some cases this is the only Christmas gift they receive.

Donations of small presents such as sample size shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion, lip balm, playing cards, games, candy, cans of nuts, wash cloths, hand towels, socks, gloves and ornaments are needed for the gift bags. Also needed is sugar-free candy for 18 diabetic clients.

Deliver donations to the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, or call the senior center at 783-6455 or Paul Lockwood at 782-6583 for donation pick-up. Cash or gift card donations may be made for Young At Heart to presents. Donations may be mailed to the Young At Heart Senior Citizens Club, P. O. Box 1042, Gardnerville, NV 89410-1042.
