Sister Soldier

We fell upon our knees tonight

And prayed for a total stranger.

She never asked what's wrong or right,

She bravely faced all

danger.

We once walked in her shoes

Some came away unscathed.

We also paid our dues

And for her a road we paved.

We were once a novelty

Lost among the crowd

Yes we fought for liberty

And came back home so proud.

There were no parades

Nor medals passed around

Not even simple accolades

The bugles made no sound

Our sister soldier died today

On foreign land she fell.

For her soul we kneel and pray

Sister soldier, fare thee well.
