The Town of Gardnerville will be removing 10 elm trees along Cemetery Lane due to their continual decline in health and vigor.
The trees are raising portions of the sidewalk, which begins to compromise the walking surface and leads to increased concerns over pedestrian safety, officials said. All of the trees have been evaluated by town staff members who are also certified arborists.
Sidewalk areas that have begun to lift will be removed and replaced and the town will replant trees along Cemetery Lane as part of this project. Gardnerville has been recognized as a Tree City USA for the past seven years and is committed to managing and furthering the urban forest within the town's open spaces on behalf of the community.
