The entry deadline is Friday for the annual Parade of Lights, this year held 5-8 p.m. Dec. 5.
The theme for parade, which runs from Lampe Park in Gardnerville to Minden Park is "Light The Way Home."
Thousands of spectators gather along the parade route, which follows Highway 395 to Esmeralda Avenue. The highway is closed from Buckeye Road to Waterloo Lane.
Local businesses, community organizations and individuals will enter illuminated floats, antique cars, animals, bands, and other creative objects into this event in the hopes of capturing an award in one of the following categories: Youth, Service Club & Nonprofit Organization, Government, Best Theme/Creative, Best Business and Best Overall. This unique holiday event originated 14 years ago with the purpose of providing quality family entertainment for Carson Valley residents, and has grown into a "must see" holiday experience for the Reno-Tahoe-Carson region.
Entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Authority at 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville, Nevada. For more information call the Chamber office at 782-8144 or go to www.carsonvalleynv.org.
