Students got a close look at a horse, a dairy cow and a tractor, and were treated presentations on beef to beef byproducts, sheep and goats to mosquitoes and composting worms during Ag Day at Jacks Valley Elementary School on Oct. 2.
Ag in the Classroom and ice cream were donated by the Douglas County Farm Bureau. The following are the students' thank-you letters.
Dear Ag Day Workers,
Thank you! Our school loved your Ag Day presentations. My class and many other classes learned so much about cows, sheep, goats and mosquitoes. I really want to thank the nice, polite ladies that showed us how to eat healthy and how to stay in shape! Without you guys I wouldn't be as fit and healthy as I am now. So a really big thanks for you. Another thing I enjoyed was the worms. I didn't know our soil was worm poop. How interesting. But the thing I loved the most was learning about what cows are made of. That was very fascinating!

Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for coming to Jacks Valley Elementary School. I'm very displeased I was sick that day but if I was there I think I really would have enjoyed the cow. The beef by-products also sounded interesting. Thanks again for coming.

Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for coming to Jacks Valley Elementary School. I was very sad that I was sick for this day. I did, however, hear from my friends that it was very fun and educational. I would have liked to have seen the cow. I also wish to see the goats. I would like to thank you again on behalf of the 6th grade.
Your Happy 6th Grader,
Emmett R
Dear Ag Day Presenters,
I want to thank you for coming to Jacks Valley Elementary School. My favorite activities were the beef by-products and the goats. I liked the beef by-products because I learned that cow hooves go into Jell-O and the reason I liked the goats because they were loud. So thank you for your presentations.
Galen
Dear Ag Day Presenters,
I appreciate you coming to Jacks Valley Elementary School and showing us the agricultural commodities of Nevada. My favorite learning center was the goats because they reminded me of my goats that I had when I was a kid. I also enjoyed the mosquito activity because I felt I was completely informed. Thank you for coming to inform me.

Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for being here for teaching us about agriculture. It was very fun to my class and I. We all learned new things and it was very thoughtful of you guys. You helped JVES and wildlife. Thanks again for helping kids save all of the plant, animal and human life for the future.
David
Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for coming to our school. Thanks for showing us how to make paper, telling us about sheep, animal skins, horses rounding up cattle, goats, milk processing, and worms. Even though I wasn't here my favorite part was the paper processing part. Why and how do horses help round up cattle? How do worms have all their organs in a little tiny body, and are still very flexible? Thank you again on behalf of our school.
Diego
Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for teaching us about cows, goats, sheep, paper, worms and many more things. My favorite part was the sheep. When I pet one, my hand fell through the wool and it was so soft. Also, the cows were amazing too, but the coat was a little rough, but it was still fun. How were you able to transport all these animals? What I learned was amazing too. I was so freaked out when a goat almost pooped on me. Did you ever stip in poop while working? Well, got to go. Good-bye.
Mariah
Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for teaching us all the interesting things about agriculture it was fun to have you! I thought the stuff about vermiculture was really interesting. I wish I could be here 7 years to see it again! Maybe I will help you when you're back at this school. Thanks for coming again. Hope to see you again.

Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you very much for coming to our school and teaching us about agriculture. I really truly enjoyed it.
It was really amazing seeing the cows. They have always been my favorite animals. I just love their big brown eyes. I never knew that cows had so many food choices and 8 stomachs.
The paper making was really fun. I couldn't believe how simple but messy it was. It was so interesting how you could put your garden in your paper. Is it possible to use clothing in paper? That would be cool.
Well if I keep talking I'll write you a story.
Kayliegh

Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for coming to our school for Ag Day. I really enjoyed Taco the horse. It was cool how Taco moved to (I'm not sure what the cowboy's name was) commands. I'm sorry I couldn't stay the whole time, but I had to go home sick. Thank you for coming and I hope to see you next time.

Dear Ag Day Presenters,
Thank you for choosing our school. It was so much fun. I learned that when you milk a cow it is never touched by humans. The goats were so cute! Why weren't there any beef cows? The mosquito control was awesome! I am so happy you came because I forgot to practice my multiplication so I could pass my test. Also, because it was super fun! Thank you very much.
Erik
