The Antelope Valley Lions Club's annual basketball tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5, at the Coleville High School gym. Tournament tipoff will be 3 p.m. Friday, with Saturday's start scheduled for 1 p.m. This is always fun to watch, as well as seeing how our team will look this year, so try to get out and support them.
Chamber of Commerce holiday social
The Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce holds their community holiday social Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Walker Community Center. There will be beer and wines beginning at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Their dinner will be ham, with all the trimmings, and the cost will be $12 for adults and $6 for children 3 to 12 years of age.
The Chamber holds this event to raise funds to provide musical instruments to the Coleville school students. If you have an instrument they could pass on, please bring it to the social.
Coleville football aand volleyball teams
Both of our fall sports teams had very good seasons, with the football team being exceptional.
The volleyball team made it to their playoffs, with a win before their elimination. The football team went all the way to the state championship game, losing 60-44 to Pahranagat Valley, which is always a scoring machine.
All of us are disappointed that they couldn't get that last win, but it sure doesn't take anything away from how proud we are of them and the season they had. Congratulations to the teams in both sports.
Regional Planning Advisory Committee
RPAC's monthly meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m., at the Walker Community Center. It is a good idea to come to the meeting and see what is planned or requested for our area, so we'll hope to see you there.
This and that
It seems like we are heading into that slower time around the holidays. I guess most of us can use a little breathing room, what with Christmas shopping, cooking holiday meals, and all that good stuff. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoys their leftover turkey or ham.
