Carson Valley philanthropic organization The Crystal Angels will host a Dec. 10 holiday luncheon in the ballroom of Antoci's Restaurant in Genoa Lakes. Proceeds from the luncheon will be used to buy Christmas presents for children in need.
Last year the group supported 58 children in the Carson Valley during the holidays and hope to top that number this year.
"Our goal is to create a wonderful and joyous holiday season for all the children whose families are going through hard times," member Pam Whitgob said. "Hopefully this festive event will do just that."
A highlight of the luncheon is the Fantasy Tree raffle. Several trees have been decorated by volunteers and will be raffled during the event. The holiday trees vary in size and each is different in design and color.
The grand tree, decorated in silver and white, stands over 9 feet tall. As an added incentive, some trees have gifts hidden among the decorations. Other donated items will also be raffled.
During lunch, guests will be entertained with a fashion show. Karen Holmes, owner of the local designer boutique, "It's All About Me," has assembled a fashion show of holiday and resort wear that is perfect for upcoming festivities.
The Crystal Angels supports Project Santa Claus, Austin's House and Abbey's Crossing.
The Christmas Tree Fantasy luncheon will begin with cocktails at noon to be followed by lunch at 1 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling 783-3517.
