A Gardnerville man faces up to six years behind bars this morning depending on the results of a psychosexual evaluation. Robert A. Stevenson, 31, could qualify for probation if the evaluation determines he is not at risk to offend again. Stevenson admitted one count of felony sexual seduction of someone under the age of 16 and false imprisonment at his Sept. 14 arraignment in Douglas County District Court. Stevenson told Judge Michael Gibbons that he bought alcohol for a 14-year-old couple, who were making out on his bed when he joined them and groped the girl. Stevenson, who was arrested on Aug. 9, will have to register as a sex offender.

Douglas Disposal will start distributing flyers today for its 15th annual food drive to benefit the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Donations will be picked up with the trash Dec. 7-11, or may be delivered to Douglas Disposal's offices at 1653 Lucerne St., Suite A, in Minden Village.

Ebbetts Pass received two feet of snow during the most recent storm, according to Natural Resources Conservation Service telemetry. The snow pack is at 29 inches at the SNOTEL site, located at 8,765 feet near Highway 4 at the headwaters of the Carson River. But while the amount of snow increased by a factor of six, the snow-water equivalent is only 4 inches, a 2.6-inch increase over the total on Thanksgiving.

Kirkwood Ski Resort is hoping to open on Friday, according to its Web site. If they're hoping for more snow, they are going to have to wait a while. There isn't any moisture in the forecast over the next seven days, according to the National Weather Service. There are still road controls on Highway 88 from five miles west of Pickett's Junction to Kirkwood.

Today's high is expected to hit 48 degrees under sunny skies. The lows will come back up into the 20s through the rest of the week. As of 6 a.m., it was 16 degrees in Minden and 17 degrees in Genoa.
