Two of The Record-Courier's Alpine County correspondents are published authors with new works out.

Alpine County columnist Bill Morgan has published his third novel under the pen name Wade Morgan.

"Six Days in Siberia" was inspired by Morgan's own trips to Siberia as a consultant.

"During my travels in Siberia, traveling from one city to another, I had a host of experiences that played out like a suspense novel," Morgan said. "I decided to weave my experiences into a tale of fiction that those who have never been to Siberia, and even those that have been there, would enjoy reading."

The book is about four Americans who are all trying to catch the Sunday plane from Khabarovsk to the U.S. before a variety of troubles catch up to them.

Morgan said another book of his, called "The Captain and the Ice Queen and Other Stories" is out on Amazon.com

Irving Krauss published a collection of stories chronicling his personal and professional life in "An Insider's Journey: Pursuing the American Dream."

Both authors have written columns for The Record-Courier over the past two and a half years, since they, Joyce Devore and Nancy Thornburg took over for Alpine Portfolio columnist Gina Gigli. Both authors' works are available online.

I'm sorry to report that after nearly a quarter of a century, award-winning Fish Springs Flier columnist Linda Monohan's last column will appear in The Record-Courier on Sunday.

Linda has decided to retire from writing the column that chronicled the lives of Fish Springs residents, and her and Norbert's many journeys.

Linda was working as secretary at Gardnerville Elementary School when I came to work for The R-C. She retired from the school job in 2002. She will be missed by us and by her readers.

Linda's daughter, Lisa Welch, will continue writing the Johnson Lane Journal.
