A Carson Valley Middle School seventh-grader will appear on national television 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to participate in a new game show.

Thirteen-year-old Ariah Barth is appearing on the Nickelodeon show, "Brain Surge," a game show that tests children's memories.

"'Brain Surge' has a lot of brain puzzles," Ariah said. "They make you think about the answer quickly, or you have to memorize stuff and respond."

Ariah said a question will appear on a screen.

"They show you the problem and then give you 5 seconds," she said. "Then you have to pick the answer off the screen."

Ariah said her mother spotted a notice for auditions for the show last December.

"We sent in the video talking about what fun things we do and then I heard back that I get to be on," she said.

The show was actually taped in February, and Ariah has had to keep the results secret all this time.

"It was very exciting," she said. "It was on an actual Hollywood set, and it was just amazing."

Ariah said the experience has set her on a career path. She now has an agent and a manager and goes to Los Angeles for commercial auditions.

She is a model working for an agency out of San Francisco.

"I love it, I just want to keep pursuing it," she said.

She said her favorite subjects are math and science. She is the daughter of Lynne and David Barth. Her older sister, Kyra, is a junior at Douglas High School. The family has lived in the Valley for five years, moving here from Lake Tahoe.

Nickelodeon appears on channel 36 in Carson Valley.
