The R-C Morning Report

A faulty fire flow alarm tripped by a power outage had firefighters hanging around Spruce Street a lot on Sunday. There was also an arcing power line in the 1400 block of Douglas Avenue that prompted an electrical device to start smoking. Fallen branches knocking down all sorts of utility lines was the watchword of the day as a surprising amount of snow fell in the winter's first real storm.

It's down to 26 degrees in Minden this morning, and 29 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos. There's a possibility that some of the moisture on the roads froze, so watch out for ice. The road conditions, though, show no problems through Western Nevada.

It will be a while before we see anything like Sunday's snow this year. There isn't a drop of moisture in the forecast, which calls for highs in the mid-70s by Friday. Today won't be quite so nice, with a high temperature forecast at 54 degrees under partly cloudy skies. The low tonight is supposed to drop down to the lower 20s.
