The Douglas girls' soccer team wrapped up the first half of the league season with a 2-0 win at Fallon on Saturday.

The win pushed Douglas' record to 12-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in Sierra League play.

Brianna Randall posted her seventh shutout of the year and Alex Laing scored her 11th goal.

Douglas coach Lorraine Fitzhugh said she reversed the playing time for the game, inserting the regular starters in the second half in an effort to give the bench a chance to carry the game early on.

"I wanted everyone to get time and strengthen their fitness and touch on the ball," she said. "This made for a slow start as the players got used to each other in the first half.

"Overall most of the team has been sick and did not have their normal legs. We'll be ready and healthy for Galena (Tuesday night)."

Laing scored first for the Tigers on an assist from Tia Lyons in the 49th minute.

Freshman Lexi Weaver scored her first varsity goal since being called up from JV last week, heading in a corner kick from Jessica Vega in the 54th minute.

Randall recorded six saves in the shutout.
