The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating three reports of suspicious circumstances in Topaz Ranch Estates involving unknown male drivers approaching teenage pedestrians and offering rides.
None of the teenagers accepted, and the motorists drove away, but the sheriff's office is seeking witnesses or information about the suspects.
On Sept. 3, a 13-year-old boy was waking home on Walker View Road when he was approached by a 30-to-40-year-old man with a black goatee driving a white 4-door sedan, possibly a Lexus.
The boy said the man drove up to him and asked several times if he wanted a ride. The teenager refused and the man drove away.
The boy said the vehicle had a bicycle rack on the rear and the seats in the car were black.
The second incident occurred Sept. 22.
A 16-year-old girl was walking in the area of Albite Road and Carter Way when she was approached by a man in his 30s-to-40s driving an older model gray or silver 4-door Buick station wagon with unknown plates.
She said the man drove up and asked her if she wanted a ride. The girl said she declined and quickly walked to a nearby business. The man drove away in an unknown direction.
He was described as Caucasian, 30-to-40 years old, short brown or black hair, a goatee and crooked teeth.
Two days later, the morning of Sept. 24, a 17-year-old girl said she was approached as she walked to a school bus stop at Andesite and Topaz Ranch roads. She said a man was driving an older Subaru with unknown Nevada plates.
She recognized the driver from a similar incident a year ago when he drove the same car honked his horn at her, and said, "hi," before driving away.
He is described as late 30s to early 40s with medium-length blond hair.
Anyone with information about the incidents, vehicles or suspects is asked to call Douglas County sheriff's Investigator Jeff Schemenauer, 782-9907, or Secret Witness, 782-7463.
