Do the right thing

EDITOR:

I'm writing about the little 6-year-old girl who was attacked by a Rottweiler dog while at Topaz Lake Park. Her injuries required nine staples in the back of her head, five stitches in her lip and four stitches near her eye. I don't understand why this dog was not destroyed. Has the dog turned a new leaf? Has it gone through therapy or spoken to a dog whisperer? The dog has shown itself for what it is; a dog that attacks children.

The dog's owner said, "We did consider putting the dog down, but I'm not into hurting or killing dogs." Mr. Taylor, I'm not into dogs mauling kids. Believe me, I know what it is like. When I was 7- years-old, while walking home from school, a dog walked up to me. I went to pet it and the dog jumped up and bit me in the face.

I ran home and told my father what happened. He chased that dog around the neighborhood until he finally lassoed and restrained the dog. He called animal control who told him that the same dog who bit me had previously attacked a little girl. If that dog had been destroyed after attacking that girl, then I would never have been attacked myself.

I am not anti-dog by any means. I've had dogs all my life. Doing the right thing is not always easy. This dog needs to be put down before it has a chance to hurt or possibly kill someone.
