Comedy opens tonight

Carson Valley Community Theatre's "Moon Over Buffalo" opens tonight at CVIC Hall in Minden. Performances are 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday, and Oct. 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 18. Scandinavian festival Saturday

The Daughters of Norway host their third annual Scandinavian Festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Highway 50 and Saliman in Carson City. Traditional foods, lefse, baked goods, music, demonstrations, rosmaling exhibits and raffles. Information, 265-7242.

See Ed Run

The Douglas County Education Foundation's Run Ed Run is Sunday at Douglas High School. Event features 5 or 10K run or walk, kids fun run, barbecue, fire trucks, helicopter, auctions and prizes. Preregistration pasta feed sponsored by the DHS Culinary Arts Department is 5 p.m. Saturday in the school's commons. Proceeds benefit the Douglas County School District. Firefighter author at library

Nevada firefighter and author Shawn Grady meets readers and signs copies of his book, "Through the Fire," 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 17, at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.
