Marines breakfast in Minden

More than 80 Marines, many of whom will eventually be headed to Afghanistan, had breakfast in Minden Park this morning.

The breakfast, organized by Carson Valley relatives of one of the Marines, was provided by several Minden and Gardnerville eateries.

Stationed in Hawthorne, Marines of the 3rd Recon Battalion Bravo Co. have been training in preparation for combat in Afghanistan.

After breakfast, they were headed over the Sierra to Lake Tahoe. Heavenly provided them with gondola rides. Their day will wrap up at Zephyr Cove Resort.

Members of the Lions Club put up flags and Douglas County 4-Hers set up greeting signs along the route north along Highway 395.
