Staff Reports
Carson Valley Community Theatre's production of "Moon Over Buffalo" continues this weekend at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
The Ken Ludwig comedy is about the stage careers of two fading stars of repertory theater in Buffalo, New York, in the 1950s. Husband and wife team George and Charlotte Hay are offered a chance to replace Ronald Coleman and Greer Garson in a big-screen adaptation of "The Scarlet Pimpernel"directed by Frank Capra.
"Moon Over Broadway" premiered in 1995 and was the comeback performance by Carol Burnett after 30 years away from theater.
Margaret Edson is known for her work onstage and behind the scenes in the Carson Valley Community Theatre productions of "Steel Magnolias," "The Odd Couple" and "Hollywood Arms." She is the theater company's director for "Moon Over Broadway."
"It's such a great play," Edson said. "The lead female character Charlotte Hay was the best role I ever played in community theater. And then, how can you go wrong doing a play where both co-stars (Carol Burnett and Philip Bosco) were nominated for Tonys on Broadway?"
Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 general, $12 for students and seniors.
Tickets may be purchased at 720-7186, carsonvalleycommunitytheatre.org or at Carson Valley Arts Council/Copeland Building, 1572 Highway 395, Minden.
