A 21-year-old heroin dealer was ordered Tuesday to participate in Western Regional Drug Court in lieu of a sentence for possession of a controlled substance.

Kevin Oliver was arrested in August after a Secret Witness tip that the Gardnerville Ranchos resident was selling heroin. He is seeking substance abuse treatment, said attorney Tod Young.

Senior Judge Norm Robison ordered Oliver to remain in custody until drug court convenes Oct. 26.

He has been in Douglas County Jail since his arrest Aug. 13.

His sentence will be held in abeyance pending his completion of drug court.
