Two power outages during Tuesday's storm affected more than 2,800 Carson Valley residents.

NVEnergy spokesman Karl Walquist said the first outage lasted 45 minutes and affected 585 residents along Highway 88 from Muller Lane south to Centerille Lane.

A jumper along Highway 88 failed, knocking out power from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. The power outage affected the traffic lights at Highway 395 and 88 and at Mottsville Lane. A minor accident occurred as a result of the failed stoplight.

Power was out to some businesses after 6 p.m.

The second outage occurred at midnight in Gardnerville when a tree limb along Toler Lane fell across a power line. About 2,250 residents and businesses in downtown Gardnerville and along the east side of Toler Lane were affected by the outage. Power was restored at 1 a.m.

A total of 1.68 inches of rain fell in Minden on Tuesday, according to R-C Weather Watcher Stan Kapler.

Along with the moisture from the Oct. 4 snow storm, 2.24 inches of moisture fell during the first half of the month. That's more than a third of the total moisture Minden received during the entire 2008-09 water year.

Gardnerville reported a 58 mph wind gust in the Foothills at 8:14 p.m.
