There's a high wind warning in Washoe Valley that ought to be extended to the rest of the Highway 395 corridor from the sound of the wind outside. High wind this morning so far was 31 mph in the Gardnerville Ranchos. The National Weather Service has taken down the wind advisories for the Valley, though there is a lake wind advisory for Lake Tahoe. I'm betting it's pretty choppy up there. The Reno Airport recorded a 71 mph wind gust at 4:33 a.m. Gardnerville reported a 58 mph gust in the foothills at about 8:14 p.m.
Central Mono County remains under a small stream flood advisory this morning. According to the National Weather Service sensors at Mammoth Mountain have reported 6 inches of precipitation since Tuesday. Since midnight, snow levels are up above 9,000 feet. They are still expecting another half inch of rain.
The East Fork of the Carson at Gardnerville is expected to crest at 5.5 feet before 5 p.m. today. That's well short of flood stage, but almost twice its average flow for this time of year. The West Fork is peaking now in Woodfords at 11.15 feet, two feet of short of the action stage.
The rain totals are still coming in, but during the storm, the weather service received several reports, including .91 inches in Johnson Lane by 9:09 p.m. Markleeville received 2.71 inches at about the same time. Bridgeport reported 1.56 inches.
The big rain storm will be punching out today with scattered showers mostly before 11 a.m. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a high of 64 and winds around 20 mph with gusts of 35 mph
