Volleyball: Douglas tops Galena

The Douglas High volleyball team's front line had a big night Tuesday at Galena, powering the Tigers to a 23-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 win in Reno.

Shannon Dugan posted 14 kills, Brenna White had 11 kills and a team-leading nine blocks, Jourdan Burke had 11 kills and seven blocks and Emily Garcia had seven kills and five blocks to lead the Tigers, who improved to 24-4 overall and 8-2 Sierra League play.

Mysta and Mia Townsell each had three aces while coming up with 13 and seven digs respectively.

Jackie Harper had 27 assists and Hailey Scalfani had six assists, Rebecca Antti had two kills, three blocks and seven service points and Christine DuPuis had a pair each of blocks, digs and service points. Keely Latham also added three blocks for the Tigers.

Douglas next faces Damonte Ranch in Reno on Thursday night in a key league match at 6 p.m.

Douglas High's junior varsity volleyball team beat Galena 27-25, 25-22 in Reno on Wednesday.

Helena Strauss and Savannah Wood each had four kills, Arel Getty had 10 assists, Renee Allen had five assists, Getty and Cassi Uhart each had five digs and Jenny Jorgenson and Amanda Wartgow each had three digs.
