This afternoon, county commissioners will be honoring Douglas' three legislators, Sen. Mark Amodei R-Carson, Mike McGinness, R-Fallon, and Assemblyman James Settelmeyer R-Gardnerville. Settelmeyer is planning a run for Amodei's seat in the state senate. Both Mcginness and Amodei are term-limited out of their seats. Amodei is taking a run at Harry Reid. Commissioners are meeting at the Lake Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline at 1:30 p.m. Michael Pegram, in preparation for the purchase of the Carson Valley Inn, is up for his license today when commissioners meet as the Douglas County Liquor Board.

Honestly folks, the meeting times out at just over an hour. The real big ticket item on the agenda is to accept the continuation of $350,000 in grant funding from the Department of Justice for the Douglas County District Attorney's Office Special Victims Response Team.

The big news for the county is that several departments are moving out of their longtime space. Completion of the fire districts offices on County Road means half the Minden Inn's main floor will be cleared out this weekend. The other half of the main floor will follow when the Douglas County Clerk's Office moves out. We'll have more details later today.

If you're going to Tahoe for today's commission meeting, give yourself an extra 20 minutes, because the state's doing repaving and some striping in the travel lanes starting 2.8 miles up from Highway 50. Traffic will be routed into opposing lanes, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation site.

The weather will quiet down for a bit, with the high today hitting 71 under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will continue to warm up through Saturday night when something new arrives with some moisture in tow.
