A California man was arrested for felony driving under the influence and resisting arrest Thursday evening after he refused to get out of his van.

John Theodore Hansen, 54, was taken into custody after deputies forced their way into his van after spending the better part of an hour trying to talk him into surrendering.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies received a report of an intoxicated man driving a van and towing a trailer on Highway 395.

Deputies spotted the van near downtown Gardnerville, and made a traffic stop after witnessing Hansen's erratic driving.

According to the report, Hansen refused to roll down his window or unlock his doors.

After shutting down traffic through downtown Gardnerville, deputies forced entry into the van and pulled Hansen out. No one was injured in the incident.
