CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The chief executive of the Reno-Tahoe Winter Games Coalition is going to start touting the area for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The U.S. Olympic Committee decided not to submit a bid for an American city to host the 2018 Games and the deadline for submissions passed Thursday.
Now Jon Killoran, the CEO of the Reno-Tahoe coalition, says his sights are set on 2022. Killoran says the coalition will stay the course and wants to be the next North American region selected to host a Winter Games.
Reno has failed in six attempts to host a Winter Olympics. But Killoran and his privately funded organization are not giving up.
Denver and Salt Lake City also had expressed interest in possibly hosting the 2018 Games.
