Damonte Ranch High School kept itself in position to win the Sierra League volleyball title Thursday night while also all but eliminating any title hopes Douglas had left.
The Mustangs pulled away with a 3-1 win although the sets were exceptionally close, scoring 25-27, 31-29, 21-25, 22-25.
The Tigers are now facing not winning the league title for only the second time since the High Desert and Sierra Leagues were established in 2000.
Douglas dropped to 20-5 overall on the year and 7-3 in league play. The Tigers would have to win out and would need Damonte to lose three of its last four and Manogue to lose at least two of its remaining four to claim the league title.
On Thursday, Shannon Dugan led the Tigers with 22 kills, five aces, five digs and four blocks.
Jourdan Burke had 11 kills, Brenna White had eight kills, three blocks and two aces and Emily Garcia had seven kills and 10 blocks.
Mysta Townsell had 30 digs and three aces, Mia Townsell had 10 digs, Jackie Harper had 31 assists and Hailey Scalfani had 12 assists in the loss.
