Author, economist and futurist Jeff Thredgold will provide an economic outlook for the Sierra Nevada region at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 18 at Carson Valley Inn in Minden.
The Northern Nevada Development Authority, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority, and the Business Council of Douglas County are hosting the joint membership breakfast, which is sponsored by Nevada State Bank. Thredgold was invited back after speaking at last year's event.
"Despite the problems and challenges we face, America remains the greatest country in the world," Thredgold told an audience at Carson Valley Inn last year. "Four words define the economy: People respond to incentives."
Thredgold is president of Thredgold Economic Associates, an economic consulting and professional speaking company based near Salt Lake City. He has been writing a weekly economic and financial newsletter now for 33 years called "Tea Leaf." His latest book, "econAmerica," was released in July 2007.
He is a former member of both the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Bankers Association and the Economic Policy Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and served as an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Utah for 16 years.
Doors open for the event at 7 a.m. Breakfast is at 7:15 a.m., and the meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $20 with advance reservations, or $30 at the door.
