Carson City has the first doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine available in Western Nevada starting 8:30 a.m. today at the Carson City Health and Human Services, located at 900 E. Long St. They'll be inoculating people in the high priority groups this morning until 11:30 a.m. and then again from 1-4:30 p.m. Another flu clinic is available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. Anyone in the priority groups, including pregnant women, people caring for infants younger than 6 months, and anyone under the age of 24 is eligible. I suggest they will not be stopping people because they happen to live in Douglas. Next week Carson City will be vaccinating elementary school children after receiving parental consent.
Carson Valley Medical Center is holding its health fair 3-6 p.m. today, though don't expect to get a seasonal flu shot. They ran out of their seasonal vaccine, but there will be lots of free screenings available. The center is located in south Gardnerville.
It will be sunny with the high temperature hitting 69 today under sunny skies. It looks like it wills stay reasonably nice over the weekend, and then the highs take am 18-degree dive on Tuesday into the 50s.
