MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Nevada (7-14, 3-4 WAC) volleyball team lost a three set Western Athletic Conference match by scores of 21-25, 16-25 and 17-25 to Idaho (10-11, 6-3 WAC) at Memorial Gym tonight. The loss marks the second win in less than a week for the Vandals over the Wolf Pack as they won in Reno, Nev. on Saturday evening. Nevada is now 7-14 on the season and 3-5 in conference play while UI improved to 10-11 and 6-3 in the WAC.
In set one the Vandals jumped out to a 7-1 advantage and never trailed in winning 25-21. Nevada had an attack percentage of zero in the first set and held UI to a negative .047 hitting percentage.
The Vandals equaled their start of set one in set two building a 7-1 lead and cruised to a 25-16 victory. The Pack got within two points but was unable to overcome the slow start. Nevada hit .059 and UI .375 in set two.
Nevada fell behind early in set three but rallied to tie the score at 7-7 but a 5-0 run by UI put them in from 12-7 as the went on to win the final set 25-17 and match 3-0. Offensively the Pack again hit zero while the Vandals posted a .219 attack percentage in set three.
Junior Kylie Harrington led the Pack with a match-high 15 kills while libero Nicole Link also posted a match-high with 17 digs. Setters Sonnie Sei and Tatiana Santiago dished out 12 and 11 digs respectively.
Sarah Conwell totaled a team-high 13 kills for UI and added 11 digs to post a double-double in the match. Setter Katie Tribley finished with a match-high 27 assists. Meredith Rice and Janelle Chow finished with 15 and 11 digs respectively.
Nevada hit .015 in the match and Idaho .159. The Vandals totaled 13 blocks and the Pack one.
Nevada continues its two match road trip traveling to Boise, Idaho to take on Boise State Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
