Douglas High sophomore James TenBroeck made a little history Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas, winning the state 4A boys' tennis singles title with a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over Bishop Gorman's Kyle DelRosario in the final round.
It was a nice finish to an impressive postseason for TenBroeck as he advanced through both the regional and state brackets without losing a single set.
It had been over 20 years at least since a player from Douglas had won even one match at state. It also may have been the first time since 1994 that a player from Northern Nevada won the state boys' title.
