The public is invited to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden over Nevada Day weekend to see a special historic clothing exhibit.
Items on display include women's, men's and children's clothing from the 1890s through the 1960s. Displays will feature clothing worn by H.F. Dangberg Jr., and his wife, Gertrude Hieronymous Dangberg.
Two of Mrs. Dangberg's dresses from the 1890s and additional items found in her closet worn in the 1920s, 1940s and 1960s will be on display. H.F. Dangberg's hats and business suits from the 1930s and 1940s will provide a male contrast to his wife's clothing.
Other features of the exhibit will be clothing worn by the Dangbergs' four daughters, beginning with their childhood in the 1910s through their later years in the 1970s. Visitors will see a variety of evening gowns and other selected items from the park's large collection of hats, gloves and other accessories from throughout the 20th Century.
"The park's staff and volunteers are very excited to put on the clothing exhibit again this year," said Park Interpreter Mark Jensen. "We've learned so much about the items in the park's collection since our exhibit last year, and we have a lot of new stories to tell."
The exhibit will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Saturday.
Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Visitors should dress in warm clothing. The park is located at 1450 Highway 88, one-half mile south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. A map and other information about the park can be found at parks.nv.gov/hr.htm, or by calling 783-9417. The regular tours will not be offered during the exhibit.
