Nevada parole and probation officials will monitor Douglas County sex offenders on Halloween through "Operation Scarecrow" to ensure compliance with division rules.
Offenders may not hand out candy, or take their own children trick-or-treating Saturday.
Sex offenders may not attend any activities where children are present including parties, barbecues or other special events.
Through "Operation Scarecrow," probation officers canvass neighborhoods during trick-or-treat hours, conducting home contacts and surveillance on sex offenders to make certain they are complying with division rules.
Offenders who violate restrictions will be subject to sanctions including arrest and revocation proceedings.
Division Chief Bernie Curtis encouraged offenders to remain at home, unless working, during Halloween, and avoid any situation that may be construed as a violation.
