It looks like this storm may have fizzled. The National Weather Service is still showing a 60 percent chance of snow showers in Minden before 11 a.m., but looking outside, it isn't any cloudier than when the sun set last night. The wind is blowing this morning, but it's not really all that cold out. There's still a chance for some lake effect snows when the front passes, but that would be winning the Megabucks of weather.
So far area highways are pretty clear. According to Safe Travel USA you're more likely to run into road construction than road controls. Snow tires or chains are required to get over Mount Rose summit and there's a high wind advisory on Highway 395 in Washoe Valley. The passes aren't showing any controls at all.
At 5:50 a.m. it was 38 degrees in Genoa, 39 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos and in Minden. The wind looks like it is starting to shift to the north, which will keep temperatures cool today. Look for a high of 47 degrees. If it does snow, it shouldn't be more than an inch.
