Carson Valley Medical Center was recently recognized by HealthInsight as the Nevada hospital with the most improvement performance in heart failure care measures as monitored by CMS.

The hospital's Quality Assurance Coordinator Amy Meeks accepted the award for Carson Valley Medical Center at a Nevada Hospital Association luncheon last month.

The measurements that CMS looks for in regards to heart failure care are: patient education at discharge, smoking cessation, diet, daily weight monitoring, medications, follow up plans as well as prescription of appropriate medications and performing the appropriate diagnostic testing while admitted to the hospital.

"This recognition is indicative of our staff's dedication to providing the highest quality care to our patients," said a hospital spokesperson.
