After an hour of regulation play and two 15-minute overtime periods, the Douglas Tigers fate in the first round of the Northern Regional 4A Boys soccer quarterfinals came down to one penalty shoot-out kick.
Fourth seed Douglas upset the High Desert League No. 1 seed Reed Raiders at the end of a grueling double overtime game. Tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes of play, the teams battled each other to a standstill during both 15-minute overtime periods.
Douglas advances to play No. 2 Galena 5 p.m. Wednesday in the next round, which will be held at Damonte Ranch.
